Jack Field works for the Speedy Cab Company. He’s an excellent driver and knows the city well. Jack enjoys his work because he meets interesting people on the job. Moreover, he does not work at night. He is very friendly and always talks to his passengers. Sometimes he tells them amusing stories about his experiences as a taxi driver. He doesn’t talk about sport and politics. He knows little about these subjects. Jack often meets foreign visitors, and he gives them useful information about the city. He knows all the good restaurants, hotels and nightclubs.
Jack takes good care of his car. He stops at Nick’s garage every day, but he seldom buys any petrol. It’s very hot this afternoon, and Nick is putting water in the radiator. One of his employees is cleaning the windows and the other is putting air in the tires. Jack is drinking a cup оf coffee and having a short conversation with Nick.
Jack does not have a college education, but he is an intelligent man. He reads two or three books a week. He does this at home. Mr. Field always has a good time at home.
