The Search (Egyptian Novel) Essay, Research Paper

Egyptian literature includes religious compositions, private and royal historical records, instructions, stories, and scientific treatises such as medical, mathematical, and astronomical papyri.

Saber?s mother has passed away, revealing a secret with her last ounce of strength ?you must find your father?.. The search for his father turns unpleasant, when the wife of his landlord plans to murder her husband for his money. Saber joins her plan, not knowing that betrayal is just around the corner.

The Search is a very interesting novel, it has a very distinct climax and throughout the book you don?t loose the interest, this is what really impressed me. The words are simple, however you must understand the principal of the book in order to easily comprehend the present situations. There was a lot of imagery in this book; this really helped me understand the key points of the story.

The main character in this novel is Saber. He falls in love with the antagonist, Karma… There?s no doubt the characters are very realistic, yet they are very strange in many ways. Even though this book is based on the search for Saber?s father, Sayed Sayed el-Reheimy, he is a minor character in this novel.

This wonderful novel keeps the interest of the reader on the rise, because the themes of the novel are incredibly interesting. Some of the themes in the novel are when Saber discovers that his father may still be alive, when Saber kills his landlord so he can be with the woman he truly loves, and when Saber is betrayed by his true love, Karma.

This book is very detailed, therefore allowing the reader to really get in touch with Egypt. I have learned many things from reading this novel. I?ve learned that the city Alexandria is the major seaport in northern Egypt, in the Nile River delta. I?ve also learned that the city was founded in 332BC by Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia, who planned it as one of the finest ports of the ancient world. Most of all I?ve learned that Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in Africa. I have learned that it is located on both banks of the Nile River near the head of the river’s delta in northern Egypt, the site has been settled for more than 6000 years and has served as the capital of numerous Egyptian civilizations.

I really liked the fact that this book is very detailed, this allowed me to understand Egyptian way of life easier. I also like that the characters in the novel were very realistic. The only thing I disliked about the book is the fact that Saber was betrayed by someone he really admired, But to be honest I would rate this book an eight out of ten, only because it?s pretty short.

In conclusion I would like to tell all you Modern Archaeologist readers that there aren?t too many books out there like this one, so if you have the time to read, I would certainly recommend it to you.
