Nostradamus was an influential faith healer during his life and a great prophet after his death. The definition of a prophet is a person who tells what will happen in the future from god, so by definition Nostradamus is a prophet. To Nostradamus a prophet was much more than that, you had to be a person who sees distant things through natural knowledge of all creatures and knowledge of such things cannot be acquired without divine inspiration, given that all prophetic inspiration derives form its original origin which is God almighty, then from chance and nature. Nostradamus was influential during his life and was even more popular after his death through his prophecies of the past, present and future.

Nostradamus was a very influencional person during Europe s great plague. Nostradamus was born in France in the year 1503 from a family of Christianized Jews. He was taught a wide range of things such as math, philosophy, Greek, Celestial Science and interestingly Hebrew, from both of his grandfathers, one of which had lived most of his life as a Jew. Nostradamus went to the University of Montpellier to study medicine where he received the license to practice. During this period there was an outbreak of the plague in Europe, and Nostradamus left the university to help the victims. Nostradamus became well known due to his successful treatment of the bubonic plague, which was unorthodox at the time, which didn t earn him praise from his colleagues. His innovative cure consisted of cleanliness and vitamin C. The first thing he would do when he entered a village was to have all the corpses removed from the streets. He then prescribed for his patients plenty of fresh air (which was not encouraged at the time), unpolluted water and his Rose Pills which consisted of rose pedals, saw dust form green cypress, iris, cloves, calamus, and lign-alos. One of the treatments he did not allow was bleeding (which was extremely popular at the time and was used to cure everything from a minor cold to the Great Plague). He was successful in healing people where which there seemed to be no cure. In 1537, a plague struck Agen which, at the time he was living with his wife children. He began to treat the people of Agen but his family got the plague and could not help them and they tragically died. Nostradamus began to wonder all over Europe and became aware of his prophetic abilities. While in Ancona, Italy he meet a young swineherd called Felix Peretti. Nostradamus knelt as the boy crossed the street. The boy asked why are you knelling to me, Nostradamus replied that he must kneel before his holiness. Felis Peretti became Pope Sixtus V in 1585, some twenty years after Nostradamus died. After this point Nostradamus begin to write his prediction of the future on paper but due to the inquisitions at the time he had to hide, or code, his visions (like Leonardo Davinche) in order to avoid being charged with witch craft. Appropriately Nostradamus predicted his death and secretly left. Nostradamus saved many peoples lives during the time of the great plague.

Nostradamus has successfully predicted many events of the past. Nostradamus predicted the death of Henry II. The exact written words of Nostradamus were The young lion will overcome the older one. On the field of combat in a single battle; He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage, Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death. (Century 1, Quatrain 35). This vision is extremely accurate because during the final battle Comte de Montgomery was jousting against King Henry. In the battle Montgomery had failed to lower his lance and it shattered sending two mortal wounds, one piercing Henry s eye and the other impaled his temple just behind his eye which both had pierced his brain. Henry lived for another ten days before dying a slow cruel death. Another one of Nostradamus s great visions was of Adlof Hitler which he had actually named him Hister. Nostradamus wrote, The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister. Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn, When the child of Germany observes nothing (Century 2, Quatrain 24). In this quatrain he describes Hitler and whom the battle will be against. Another quatrain is He will be occupied by a proud, villainous and unjust man. The republic of Venice will be vexed by Hister. (Century 5, Quatrain 29). This explains the relationship between Hitler and Mussolini who was from Italy. The shocking and infamous unarmed ones will fear the great furnace, First the chosen one, The captives not returning. (Almanac of 1557). This quatrain explains the many defenseless people burned alive in Himmler s death factories. Another one of Nostradamus predictions of the past is still teaching us of things involving JFK. The ancient work will be accomplished, And from the roof evil ruin will fall on the great man: They will accuse an innocent, being dead, of the deed: The guilty one is hidden in the misty copse. (Century 6, Quatrain 37). This quatrain describes Kennedy being shot and Oshwalt is given the blame yet never really been proven. Some of Nostradamus predictions were astounding for example When the see the half pig man. Noise screams, battle fought in the skies. The dumb beasts will be heard to speak. (Century 1 Quatrain 14). From Nostradamus perception there were planes in the sky dropping bombs. And the pig like men is obviously the pilot in an oxygen mask. To understand these quatrains we must think like people of that time. So there for Nostradamus successfully predicted many events of the past.

Nostradamus wrote much about our future. There are many interesting links between the believes of Nostradamus and Judaism, which his parents were forced to convert. Nostradamus believes that there will be some warnings before Armageddon. The same is believed in Judaism. They include religious deception or false religions meaning the movement away from Christian, Islamic and Hindu beliefs. Other warnings are of internal revolution, wars, famine, Poisoning of the earth (pollution), Earthquakes and plagues or disease. In the last 10 years all of these things have been evident from earthquakes in California to the Ebola virus. Then after these events Nostradamus writes about a 3rd Antichrist (the first being Napoleon second being Hitler) which he called Mabus. In one of his quatrains he states the date of which the 3rd Antichrist appears. In the year 1999 and seven months. The great king of terror will come from the sky, he will bring back the great king of the Mongols. Before and after Mars [the god of war] reins happily. (Century 10, Quatrain 72). When Nostradamus writes the great king of the Mongols he is probably referring to Genghis Khan who killed tens of millions in his conquests of Asia. Nostradamus also writes about what most believe is a nuclear bomb. The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude, Fire approaches the great new city (New York lies between 40-45 degrees). Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up when they want to have verification from the Norman s (French). Most believe Nostradamus tells us that a Nuke will hit New York City in the near future. There is also another where he talks about New York. Earthshaking fire from the center of the earth will cause the towers around the New City to shake: Two great rocks will war for a long time, and then Aretusa shall colour a new river red. (Century 9, Quatrain 87). The death of the 3rd anti Christ will spark Armageddon. Mabus will soon die then will come a horrible undoing of people and animals, At once one will see vengeance, One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass. (Century 2, Quatrain 62). Nostradamus does say that Armageddon can be avoided, it depends on our world leaders. He also says that the green house effect will occur and flood many cities. The Great Mountain, 4,247 feet in circumference, After peace, war, famine, flooding will spread far, drowning great countries. Even antiquities and their mighty foundations. According to Nostradamus chances of survival are slim. So therefore Nostradamus wrote much of the future to come.

From the evidence we can clearly see that Nostradamus was a man of his time and also a man of the future.

He saved many people from the plague with his original remedies. France took note of this and granted him a life time pension which was unthinkable for a doctor to receive. Nostradamus successfully wrote about his future and our past from his eyes. He saw visions King Henry, Napoleon, JFK, Hitler, and many more. In detail he wrote many prophecies of great people perishing. Now it is up to us to believe, or not believe in Nostrodamus s predictions of the future. The evidence of the past stands for itself. Yet in his day it was unthinkable to contemplate the idea of the green house effect or the movement away from the great religions of the time. He also states that there will be many wars and nuclear fallout in the future. After that will come great famine and starvation. In the end he says that the great cycle of the earth will occur and the polar ice caps will melt. It is strange to think that a man could predict the fate of the world by simply looking at a flame from a candle. Nostradamus was a great healer and predicted many events of the world from our past present and future.
