3. Translate the following definitions and memorize the terms:

bug – is an error in a computer program or system.

computer programmers – is a person whose job involves writing programs for computers.

debugging – is the process of identifying and removing errors from computer hardware or software

disk operating systems (DOS) – is a shorthand term for several closely related operating systems that dominated the IBM PC compatible market between 1981 and 1995, or until about 2000 if one includes the partially DOS-based Microsoft Windows versions Windows 95, 98, and ME. Related systems include MS-DOS, PC DOS, DR-DOS, FreeDOS, PTS-DOS, ROM-DOS, JM-OS, and several others.

flowchart – is a graphical representation of a computer program in relation to its sequence of functions.

graphical user interface (GUI) – is a type of user interface which allows people to interact with programs in more ways than typing such as computers; hand-held devices such as MP3 Players, Portable Media Players or Gaming devices; household appliances and office equipment with images rather than text commands. A GUI offers graphical icons, and visual indicators, as opposed to text-based interfaces, typed command labels or text navigation to fully represent the information and actions available to a user. The actions are usually performed through direct manipulation of the graphical elements.

Linux – is an operating system that includes the Linux kernel. Most are variants of the GNU operating system and can be called GNU/Linux distributions.

program – is a set of instructions that a computer follows in order to perform a particular task.

schedule – is a plan for carrying out a process or procedure, giving lists of intended events and times.

server – is a computer or computer program which manages access to a centralized resource or service in a network.

UNIX OS – is a computer operating system originally developed in 1969 by a group of AT&T employees at Bell Labs, including Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Brian Kernighan, Douglas McIlroy, and Joe Ossanna. Today the term Unix is used to describe any operating system that conforms to Unix standards, meaning the core operating system operates the same as the original Unix operating system.
