I. Запищите в тетради исходную (словарную) форму слов на

-S и дайте за ней краткое обозначение части речи,

принятое в словарях:

these mines; capacities; it combines; those roles; the types;

some types; some uses; he displays; it produces.

II. Пользуясь алгоритмом на стр. 14, определите, к какой

части речи относятся выделенные слова, а затем

переведите:

1. These instruments are of the latest Soviet make.

2. Many nationalities people the Soviet Union.

3. We name the smallest physically indivisible particles of

matter atoms.

4. The instruments radio all the necessary Information from the

spaceships.

5. Change in air pressure is the chief cause of winds.

6. Heating causes chemical changes.

7. A list of the uses of rubber will occupy many pages.

8. Man widely uses aluminium, a light, easily worked metal.

9. We man it by workers.

III. Переведите словосочетания:

power consumption, reserve generators, high tension, long

distance transmission, the unified power system,

independence Day.

IV. Определите, какими членами предложения являются

слова на -ing, -ed, и у кажите способы перевода на

русский. Проверьте себя по алгоритмам:

l. The student asking the teacher to explain that rule wished to

learn about some of its applications.

2. Asking the teacher to explain that rule the student wished to

learn about some of its applications.

3. The student was asking an interesting question when I came

in.

4. When asking the engineer to show him that part of the engine

the student came nearer.

5. When asked by the teacher, the student answered that he

knew that rule very well.

6. The student asked by the teacher answered that he knew

about it.

V. Переведите подлежащее и сказуемое:
